recall exercise

i think part of the reason why i usually don't blog about my weekend adventures is that i have horrible activity recall. soo, i'm going to do something unprecedented and attempt to blog not only about this past weekend, but also the weekend BEFORE that. let's see....

tx/ou weekend:
traditionally one of my favorite weekends of the year, tx/ou 2008 did not disappoint. we kicked off the weekend on thursday night with happy hour at kona grill. no drinks this round, because we knew we had to save ourselves for the following three days.

friday night, my cousin came into town and we celebrated her birthday at cafe madrid in uptown. a wide variety of tapas and a fat bill later, we headed to sting (yes, the nightclub that i detest for my one and only towing experience) for an early-night celebration. then it was off to k-town for karaoke. i have to say, that was probably the only time i have had fun karaoking. honestly, i do not see the appeal in listening to really bad drunken singing, but apparently once you are boozed up yourself, the experience becomes much more tolerable. :P anyways, the place we went to, family karaoke, was really nice. it had made to order food (ramen, etc), a full bar, and quick service. we probably left around 3:30am or 4.

kick-off for the tx/ou game was at 11am on saturday. of course, being football-averse, i can only watch 2 quarters of any given game before i lose interest. i showed up to my friend's viewing party after half-time and watched the exciting second half and the stunning longhorn victory. we celebrated by flaunting our UT pride and eating artery-clogging fried snowballs, chicken-fried bacon, chicken on a stick, and cotton candy at the state fair. later, we went to posh nightclub to watch kaba modern (of america's best dance crew fame) perform. i do not know if $20 for a 5 minute performance was worth it, but i had fun.

this past weekend: absent of the anticipation which tx/ou elicits, but good. i started my friday with a spa appointment at bliss labs in the W hotel downtown. i had originally requested only an oxygen treatment and mask, but one look at my congested skin under the magnifiying glass, and the aesthetician decided she would do me a favor by rendering some pain-inducing extractions. i left the spa looking like i was stung by 100 angry bees, forcing me to hide behind my oversized sunglasses before the 16-story elevator ride down and subsequent walk through the hotel lobby and parking garage. i skipped my meeting during the early evening to go eat at this one restaurant in east plano that is supposedly famous for its peking duck. despite being called mr. wok, the restaurant was actually decently authentic as far as the duck was concerned. afterwards, we went to uptown to drink at the ginger man and called it quits around 1am. yeah, definitely getting old.

saturday, i went around running errands for my brother during the day, then went to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, cracker barrel. afterwards, we went to the parker house, a haunted house up in lewisville. i have to say, going to haunted houses is probably the highlight of every october for me. i don't know why, because i am a big wimp and spend half my time in the haunted house cowering behind my "friends" (yeah... friends who turn around purposely to frighten me :P). we went back to posh that night and drank some more.

sunday, i pretty much bummed around my friend's house watching football after my plans to exercise fell through. sundays always seem to be recovery days for me, so not much usually happens.... maybe some light shopping or studying once in awhile, but nothing that requires extravagant amounts of energy.

welp, those were my last two weekends, all committed to the internets. time to focus on the CPA :(
