i feel better. my problem is that i'm really persistent... situations that are clearly lost causes often take longer than normal to register in my head. well, i take that back. i'm good at assessing situations quickly and deciding whether certain endeavors are worth pursuing... BUT, when things turn sour or don't turn out the way i anticipate, i'm adamant about making 2nd, 3rd, and 4th attempts. the adage "try, try, and try again" was apparently created in my likeness. i don't like taking "no" for an answer. so in reality, i guess i just don't like losing.
i remember during a career event, a recruiter asked me what my greatest weakness was. i replied, "i'm a perfectionist." while in a work setting, the connotations attributable to the term include being meticulous and detail-oriented, being a perfectionist can sometimes yield inefficient results. when people focus on perfecting the small, trivial things, it takes longer to reach the end goal. yes, things will ultimately be accomplished, but there is a longer waiting period. they say that perfection takes time. but, sometimes things don't need to be perfect... they just need to be functional. and here is when the ideal of perfectionism trades places with its more negative connotations, and becomes the offshoot of irrational persistence.
well, i think i'm almost done. perhaps not entirely, but at least i am no longer adding more trifling pieces to this story. i have analyzed its many diminutive angles and invested ample time to the matter. and now, it's time to move on.
