new year's resolutions

i haven't made any resolutions in the past several years because i know i can't keep them. why disappoint myself? :) i guess that makes this year extra special, then, because i am parting with tradition. i am going to test my resolve by actually holding myself to a list of goals:

1. weigh not more than 105 pounds. an original "resolution," i know, but hey - the less i weigh, the better i feel when i eat a dozen cupcakes. time frame for completion: end of february.

2. take school seriously. i don't think this has happened since, umm... EVER, so i guess it's time i tried. the amount of time spent sitting in a coffee shop is apparently not directly related to the quantity of work accomplished. plus, my future job may actually be dependent on me utilizing the knowledge i gain, so i should probably make an effort to really learn it.

3. look better. i envy those people who are able to look effortlessly beautiful, because alas, i am not one of them. the point of this resolution is not to be more vain, but to make a conscious effort to not look like crap. as coco chanel says, “i don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. and then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. and it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”

4. allocate my resources to worthier causes. this means i need to stop beating dead horses, fixating on events of the past, and
"accept the things i cannot change, [have] the courage to change the things i can, and the wisdom to know the difference." i have to learn to put effort into the things and people that matter, and let go of those that bring me down.

5. pass the CPA.

6. more later, maybe.

you know those college days...when you rolled out of bed around 2 pm...bummed around all day...then spent all night at the pcl? i thought you looked ridiculously hot then. and i'm pretty sure you didn't spend hours getting ready before spending hours in the study lounge. :)
